Pebble Soap
Who are we?

There are so many things we consume that are mass produced in factories by people who are often working in poor conditions. I don’t feel good about buying these products but I acknowledge it is difficult to make responsible choices - ethical, sustainable, recyclable etc and be cost effective.

I lived in a developing country for 10 years and I came to appreciate how  people, including women would work with their hands to make just a few dollars each day..I enjoyed purchasing the products people made with their hands because it represented hard work and sincerity.  When I wear or use these items I am reminded of their beauty and also what they represent.

When I returned to Australia I realised I would soon become accustomed to consuming mass produced products, it seemed so convenient and readily available. But each fortnight I am reminded when I look into my recycling bin how much I should try and change.

I had been a soap maker for years so I decided to take my soap making up a notch, tick some more boxes:  sustainable, environmental, ethical, biodegradable.   When I began considering these objectives in the process of making the product I found it contributed to a better work environment, my hands enjoy wrapping the soap in cardboard or paper with minimal use of colored inks and chemical glues compared to heat sealed plastic wrapping and glossy colored stickers. I enjoy walking into my shed and smelling essential oils and seeing botanical ingredients drying.  Pebble soap is not just a business it’s a nod to hard work and what it can produce when done with integrity to the people and the planet that we inhabit.

I am expanding my range to include more native Australian ingredients and other self care products.  I  focus on eco-tourism products which show consideration for the the beauty of this great country as well as provide a 'luxe holiday' experience.

Pebble Soap
What we do?

Since all my products are made by hand I know exactly what goes into each one and what I purposefully leave out.  Each ingredient is carefully chosen to deliver the best possible results.  Castor oil for example is an amazing anti-inflammatory, for skin that means it is soothing, it contains aintioxidants to help fight the nasties that make us age and it has antibacterial properties to help with acne and gently clean off the bad guys!  Castor oil goes into every soap I make and my balms.  I also go to great lengths to ensure the raw ingredients in my products and the processes in making them show consideration for the environment.  Where possible I do not use any plastics, if I need to use a plastic I make sure it is recyclable and minimal.  The use of 100% biodegradable cardboard and unbleached paper is my signature look, coupled with black ink, no colours on my products.  I purchase my ingredients and materials from WA suppliers and packaging is purchased within Australia.  Recently my family was identified as having indigenous heritage on my maternal grandmother’s side.  I have begun incorporating native Australian ingredients and botanicals in my range to acknowledge this amazing country and what it has given us all.  My products are affordable, I tell mum’s to let their children use it all because I don’t want it to be just for special – I want the whole family to come out of the shower smelling like Lemon Myrtle! I care about you and the planet we inhabit this is what Pebble Soap is all about...
